Killing the cure for AIDS: The case of Nana Kofi Drobo II and Dr Sebi

The killing of Eritrean born American rapper Nipsey Hussle on Monday, 1st April, 2019 has reignited the debate on the mysterious ways in which black men who proclaim to find the cure for malignant diseases, notably AIDS and cancer lose their lives. The 33-year-old rapper who was in the process of filming a documentary about the infamous 1985 trial of Honduran herbalist Dr Sebi was shot six times outside his Marathon Clothing store in the Crenshaw neighbourhood of Los Angeles. In light of his plan to shed light on Dr. Sebi’s trial through the documentary, conspiracy theories have since surfaced about the possible reason behind the Nipsey’s killing, with a number of them claiming that the government assassinated him to thwart his plan.

Dr Sebi

Alfredo Darrington Bowman, better known as Dr. Sebi, was a Honduran world-renowned herbalist and healer who garnered attention after posting an ad in a New York newspaper where he claimed that he could cure AIDS. Born in November 1933, Bowman never had formal education, but was trained by his parents and “anchored in the African herbal way.”

As the director of the Usha Herbal Research Institute, Dr. Sebi claimed to have successfully cured his patients of HIV/AIDS, Cancer, Diabetes, Sickle Cell, Blindness among others. According to him, he cured all the diseases with herbs and a unique vegan diet based on various pseudoscience claims. Dr. Sebi described his African Bio-Mineral Balance as a dietary program that is consistent with the African genetic structure. The dietary program consists of natural herbal compounds, fresh fruits, vegetables and juices. He believed that mucus was the cause of every disease and that when you eliminate the mucus you eliminate the disease.

In February 1987, Dr. Sebi was arrested and put before court after advertising in the newspapers, including the New York Post, that he had cured thirteen of his patients of AIDS and that he was willing to cure anyone who supposedly had AIDS. He was charged by the Brooklyn Supreme Court for selling drugs without approval by the Food and Drugs Board (FDA), practising medicine without a license and fraudulently claiming to solve AIDS and other diseases.

In the court case against what some people say were against some of the toughest prosecutors in the land at the time, Dr. Sebi was asked to bring 1 of every patient he had cured from each of the 9 maladies he cures as well as medical records showing records that the patients had the disease and another showing the patients had been cured of the disease and confirmed by a second doctor. Dr. Sebi took 77 cured patients and their diagnostic sheets from licensed doctors to the court, instead of the 9 patients he was asked to bring, to prove his case.

He was subsequently found not guilty of the charges levelled against him and discharged. At the time, he was one among a handful of people to have won a case against the United States Supreme Court in about the last 2800 cases.

On August 6, 2016, Dr. Sebi died in police custody after having complications while battling pneumonia while in Honduras. He was 82.

Nana Kofi Drobo II

Nana Kofi Drobo II was a herbalist, head of the Drobo Memorial Herbal Center and chief priest of the Kwaku Firi Shrine at Nwoase, near Wenchi, in the Brong Ahafo Region of

Ghana. He achieved international fame in 1992 when he is alleged to have found the cure for the dreadful Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).

On May 28, 1992, Nana Drobo II and his secretary Paa Koi Mensah arrived in Tokyo, Japan upon the invitation of Tokyo Broadcasting System, Dramatic Vision and Dental and Medical University of Tokyo for the purpose of testing the efficacy of his AIDS drug. Recounting the story of their ordeal in Japan at the Manhyia Palace on July 4, 1992, Nana Kofi Drobo II and Paa Koi Mensah said attempted poisoning, robbery and a miraculous escape summed up their Tokyo trip.

A story published in the Wednesday, August 26, 1992 edition of The Pioneer Newspaper on the account that Nana Kofi Drobo II narrated to the Ashantehene, Otumfuo Opoku Ware II states:

Nana Kofi Drobo II said on their arrival a reception was held for them. However as soon as he touched his bottle of soft drink, it fell and broke into pieces. His secretary who drunk his developed a swollen face and red eyes three days later.

He said on the second day of their visit his drug was taken for an invitro-test which according to the Japanese, would take 5 days instead of the normal 12 days due to their advanced technology. After 5 days, the researchers led by Prof. Yamamato came to report that the drug had not only eliminated the virus but had also destroyed the containers in the testing machine. In view of this they would reduce it from 9% to 3% for another test.

According to Nana Drobo II it was from this juncture their battle for survival begun. Prof Yamamato wanted to know his academic background since to his thinking a mere herbalist was not capable of inventing such a potent drug against the dreaded AIDS when world renowned researchers and medical practitioners had failed in their attempts to find the cure for it. Prof Yamamato also pleaded with him to make him (Yamamato) the inventor of the potent drug while Nana Drobo II becomes co-inventor to avoid the disgrace which would befall the world medical field if it became known that an ordinary herbalist had invented the cure for AIDS.

When Nana politely refused the request, Yamamato asked to be vaccinated with Nana Kofi Drobo’s anti-AIDS vaccine since he may in the course of his duties contract the disease. Again, Nana Drobo rejected the request. Nana said he later discovered that the telephone in their room had been disconnected and very powerful and sensory machines had been secretly installed in their rooms to monitor their activities.

At a point in time when he feigned sick, one of their hosts, Mr. Schimada, brought an American doctor, who diagnosed that Nana was suffering from heart attack and declared that his blood pressure is so bad that anything can happen at any time. When Nana refused to be injected, he prescribed ‘Brandine’, a poisonous drug for him and promised to come back at the appropriate time to give him an injection. The doctor (name Dr. Askinof) left with the message, “you look like a King, but I will soon reduce you”. Prof. Yamamato confessed to him later that three prominent Ghanaians had asked them (Japanese), to eliminate him so that he would not enjoy the fame that will surely accompany his invention and that he will faithfully accompany their request. A few days after the disclosure, Nana Drobo and his secretary’s properties including one million yen and a gold ring were stolen from their room. Suspiciously, characters also started trailing them wherever they went.

Due to the tribulations they were going through, they poured all their drugs into a water closet and flushed them to prevent the Japanese from illegally acquiring the AIDS Drug. Nana Kofi Drobo II concluded by saying the Japanese used all sorts of devilish tricks to eliminate him and his secretary and take possession of the AIDS drugs but failed.

Professor Nana Kofi Ayisi, former Head of the Vitrology Unit of the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR), in April 2004 held that the late Nana Kofi Drobo’s claim that he discovered anti-HIV/AIDS plants was based on scientific principles.

Professor Ayisi insisted that if turned out that Nana Drobo selected his plants for treating HIV/AIDS patients based on the fact that the plants had been found to inhibit cancer cells (just like Dr. Sebi also earlier suggested) then Nana Drobo may have been one of the first people to have tested an anticancer agent for its possible anti-AIDS efficacy.

Nana Kofi Drobo II died at 47 from gunshot wounds on August 25, 1992 at a village near Offinso-Ashanti.

The Ghanaian Times of 3 October 1992 reported that five people including his secretary, driver, personal aide, and a linguist of the Kwaku Firi Shrine, where Nana Drobo was chief priest, were charged with his murder and conspiracy to murder. It is understood that three of the five were convicted.

The AIDS Cure

Conspiracy theorist believe that the western pharmaceutical companies are strongly against the finding of a cure for AIDS, especially from black herbalist, as it would mean a loss in millions of revenue to the companies who produce anti-retroviral drugs used for the treatment of AIDS worldwide. It has also been stated that even if a cure for the epidemic is available, these same western pharmaceutical giants would like to patent it to reap all the economic benefits that will come along with it.

With 91% of the world’s HIV-positive children living in Africa, 71% of the HIV/AIDS-related deaths in 2011 being people living in Africa, and 69% of the 34 million HIV-positive people worldwide living in sub-Saharan Africa, it should be common-sense, rational and reasonable to promote the use of traditional healers and herbalist, African herbal materials, when proven, as well as African made, tested and confirmed Antiretroviral drug treatments to tackle the HIV/AIDS epidemic. This will go a long way to prevent the 5 out of 10 million HIV-positive patients who cannot receive treatment due to an insufficient supply of antiretroviral drugs and health care providers.

In any case, simple economics suggests that upgrading the knowledge of traditional healers and herbalist would be less expensive than expanding the formal public health care system and would likely be more sustainable over the long year.

It is this claim made by loyalists to Dr. Sebi and Nana Kofi Drobo II that international drug companies are trying to protect their profits because theirs were the only cure and preventative medicine for AIDS whereas all the others by the multi-national companies were symptom suppressants.

Similar work with medicinal plants is showing promising results in South Africa. A South African indigenous medicine helps relieve the symptoms of AIDS. The plant, Sutherlandia Frutescens, grows wild in the Western Cape and the hills of Zululand. Anne Hutchings, an ethnobotanist and lecturer at the University of Zululand has been using Sutherlandia, together with a range of other indigenous plant medicines, to treat AIDS patients who attend the weekly AIDS clinic at Ngwelezane Hospital. She has 176 patients who all testify that Sutherlandia has helped them to live a fuller, healthier and more productive lives. In the Northern Cape town of Kuruman, nurse and sangoma, Virginia Rathele, is using Sutherlandia at her clinic to treat more than 300 AIDS patients.

Conclusion

There is a belief among the Akan people in Ghana backed by a popular saying that,’wo kum apem aa, apem beba’ which to wits means, “if you kill a thousand, a thousand more will come.” This belief goes a long way to reinforce the belief that no matter the efforts at suppressing blacks and African herbalist in the world of medicine goes, there are many more who will come to emancipate their people against such deadly diseases. The notion of traditional healers as “witch doctors” practicing quack medicine remains pervasive, despite the fact that many pharmaceutical products are derived from plants. A focus by African governments to improve traditional medicine would make the health system less dependent on external sources, such as multinational companies and international aid institutions.

How Jesse Owens Foiled Hitler’s Plans for the 1936 Olympics

In 1933, shortly after assuming power as chancellor of Germany, Adolf Hitler moved forward with plans to turn the 1936 Summer and Winter Olympics into showcases for his regime. He ordered the construction of a massive new stadium in Berlin and channeled funds toward the completion of an airport to welcome international visitors.

Additionally, the Summer Games were meant to be the first to reach audiences around the world via television, as well as the first to feature the now-traditional element of the Olympic torch relay.

Of course, while the Olympics are ostensibly designed to bring a multitude of races and cultures together in a spectacle of competition, the Fuhrer had little use for such notions of unification. In fact, he deliberately hurt his country’s chances for success by keeping Jews out of athletic clubs and events, eliminating potential Olympic medalists like high-jumper Gretel Bergmann.

Jesse Owens in the men’s 200m at the 1936 Summer Olympic Games held in Berlin, German.

Hitler saw African American track stars as a threat

Meanwhile, Jesse Owens had emerged as a track and field sensation in the States. He tied the world record in the 100-yard dash while still in high school, and his performance at the 1935 Big Ten Championships, in which he established three world records and matched a fourth over a span of 45 minutes, remains one of the most extraordinary accomplishments in collegiate sports history.

He wasn’t the only African American athlete making waves. Ralph Metcalfe was a silver medalist at the 1932 Olympics and at one point shared the world record in the 100-meter dash.

And a Temple University sprinter named Eulace Peacock emerged as a highly formidable opponent to Owens, even beating him multiple times in head-to-head competition in 1935, before suffering a hamstring injury that squashed his 1936 Olympic hopes.

The United States almost boycotted the 1936 Olympics

Owens nearly didn’t get the chance to make Olympic history. With American decision-makers aware of Hitler’s discriminatory policies against Jews – but not yet aware of the scope of the horrors to come – a fierce debate raged about whether to boycott the 1936 games.

Amateur Athletic Union president Jeremiah Mahoney argued that participation amounted to support of the Third Reich, but he was outdone by the American Olympic Committee head Avery Brundage, who insisted that the Games were for the athletes and not the politicians.

Like other elite black athletes who grew up in an unequal society, Owens considered the moral stance against Germany to be hypocritical and wasn’t inclined to surrender the chance to shine on a global stage. He eventually expressed his desire to compete in the Games, a position that drew the condemnation of African American publications and NAACP head Walter White.

Owens became the first American to win four gold medals in track and field

From almost the get-go, Owens seized the reins as the star of the 1936 Summer Olympics. He coasted to a gold medal in his first event, the 100-meter dash, and followed with a highly publicized victory over German champion Luz Long in the long jump (an event embellished by the tall tale of Long offering advice to help his opponent win).

After setting an Olympic record in the 200-meter dash en route to a third gold medal, Owens put the exclamation point on his showing by running the opening leg of a record-shattering U.S. 4×100 relay performance. He became the first American of any race to win four gold medals in track and field in a single Olympics, an achievement that stood unaccompanied until Carl Lewis matched him in 1984.

Although it was largely reported that Hitler “snubbed” Owens for upstaging his prized Aryan athletes, in reality, he responded to a request to treat the winners equally and declined to publicly congratulate anyone after the first day of competition. Other reports indicated that the Fuhrer did salute Owens from afar, possibly influenced by the adoring reception the athlete received from fans.

Despite Hitler’s snub, Owens left a global legacy

As with the so-called Hitler snub, the narrative of the 1936 Olympics has been softened and simplified over the years. Despite the accomplishments of Owens and his teammates, Germany could still claim athletic superiority by winning the most medals.

More crucially, the Games succeeded as a form of propaganda, spotlighting the Nazi Party as welcoming and orderly even as it was on the precipice of launching another war and exterminating millions of Jews.

On a personal level, the spotlight of the Olympics was an outlier in the career of Owens, who returned to the cold reality of being a black man in Great Depression-era America. His commercial opportunities failing to materialize, he was forced to race against horses and take on other demeaning jobs for years, until finally catching a break as a government ambassador in the 1950s.

Still, the story of his triumphant showing in those Games endures. While he didn’t halt the machinations of the Nazi regime, Owens undoubtedly stole the spotlight from the host country’s zealous leader.

Furthermore, he showed that black man could thrive with the eyes of the world upon him, an effort that paved the way for future African American sporting stars like baseball’s Jackie Robinson, and pushed the door open a little wider for the civil rights movement to eventually emerge.

Kwame Nkrumah dies in Bucharest today in 1972

Today in History, exactly 48 years ago, on April 27, 1972, Kwame Nkrumah, the deposed President of Ghana and a great Pan-Africanist died in Bucharest, Romania after six years in exile in Guinea far away from his birthplace of Nkroful at the age of 62.

Dr. Kwame Nkrumah

Kwame Nkrumah played a pivotal role in the formation of the African Union (A.U) previously called the Organization of African Unity (O.A.U) and led his country to independence in 1957.

President Kwame Nkrumah was unconstitutionally ousted from office through a military coup. The Coup was launched by the National Liberation council (NLC) with the code name “Operation Cold Chop,” on February 24, 1966 whiles he was in Peking (today’s Beijing) en route to the Vietnamese capital, Hanoi, with plans to end the American war in Vietnam.

Kwame Nkrumah arrived in Conakry, Guinea after being invited by Sekou Toure just after the Military Coup that unconstitutionally ousted his Government from Power.

In distant Bucharest (Romania), April 27, 1972, far from his green and lovely native land and from his own people, Kwame Nkrumah died of cancer.

His death, of cancer, was announced by President Seim Toure of Guinea, one of the militant nationalist’s closest friends. Mr. Nkrumah had been living in Guinea since his overthrow in a military coup in 1966.

Today in History, exactly 48 years ago, on April 27, 1972, Kwame Nkrumah, the deposed President of Ghana and a great Pan-Africanist died in Bucharest, Romania after six years in exile in Guinea far away from his birthplace of Nkroful at the age of 62.

Several African Heads of State and the representatives of 25 other countries paid their last tributes to Ghana’s former President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, on Saturday, May 13, 1972 after a funeral ceremony in Conakry, the Guinean capital.

Also represented at the funeral ceremony was Ghana’s new ruling military body, the National Redemption Council. But in Accra, there was no word of when Dr. Nkrumah’s body would be flown back for burial — and there were some misgivings that it would not be returned by the Guineans.

The return of his body to Ghana followed lengthy negotiations between Ghana’s military rulers and the government of Guinea. Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, was buried at his home town of Nkroful, 240 on Sunday 9 July, 1972. While the tomb still remains in Nkroful, his remains were transferred to a large national memorial tomb and park in Accra, Ghana.

Today, the place is known as Kwame Nkrumah’s Mausoleum and has become a tourist destination for Ghanaians and those in the diaspora.

Kwame Nkrumah mausoleum

The idea of erecting a monument in honour of Nkrumah dates back to 1972, when the African Students Union sent a memorandum asking the Government of Guinea, then under President Sekou Toure, to send the mortal remains of the Ghanaian leader to Ghana only if the military leaders at that time denounced coup d’état and re-erected the statue of Nkrumah which was destroyed during the 1966 coup.

Although the remains were later returned to Nkroful, his birthplace, it was not until 1992, that the image of Nkrumah was restored on the Old Polo Grounds during which the erstwhile Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC), decided to build the Kwame NKrumah Mausoleum.

Dr Azunre aka Dr Pushkin a Ghanaian Artiste and Scientist pioneers new Technology for Music Videos

Dr.Paul Azunre

It is the first quarter of the year 2020, cities are on lockdown, flights are grounded, and music concerts are being cancelled all over the world. From Wuhan in China, it has crossed vast sea and land to both near and distant places across the globe. Nevertheless, in the middle of this bleak and unfortunate time, new music provides positive energy to millions of people who remain connected by the internet. In the meantime, we wait for world-class biological scientists to provide us with a vaccine.

Questions By Dr Pushkin

World music has evolved with many technological advancements incorporated. Yet music and science are seen as unrelated fields to many people. One person who has made strides to bring a closer connection between the two is Dr Azunre aka Dr Pushkin, a Machine Learning Engineer who holds a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), who doubles as a Hip Hop/Afrobeats artist and poet.

In 2019, Dr Azunre made international headlines for his contributions to advancing the state of Optical System Design optimization algorithms. He developed an algorithm that can guarantee to find the “best possible design” to an optical design problem. Being a scientist, people have made Dr Pushkin feel “different” as an artist. “Because I have always been a bit of a bookworm or nerd, people have been suggesting to me that I should not be making music for as long as I remember”, he says. “At the end of the day, I don’t care about what people say or think, just do what I love, work hard at it and let the chips fall where they may”.

This strategy seems to be finally working for Dr Pushkin, who released two afrobeat singles in 2019 – “Zunguzika” with artists Alchemy Thabigdawg (Zimbabwean) and Ataman Nikita (Ghanaian), as well as “Fantasy” with Soorebia and Ataman Nikita (both Ghanaians). These garnered significant streaming traction and buzz in 2019.

In the year 2020, Dr Pushkin is cross-pollinating ideas from music and engineering, focusing on exactly the things that make him different from other artists to gain an advantage. He has invented a new technology for making music videos. In his own words – “As a machine learning engineer, I have innovated a computer vision pipeline over the past couple years, that uses neural networks and artificial intelligence to create a uniquely stylized animation and video.” The technology he has applied on his new music video released this March.

As a Ghanaian, Dr Pushkin believes his work will spark innovation from our very capable music artists and will put Ghana Music out there as an innovative music culture. He encourages engineers to contribute to the music industry by employing innovative ideas from various fields.

The song is available on all major platforms streaming platforms including Apple Music, YouTube, Spotify and SoundCloud.

Dr. Azure is also former winner of the 2002 National Science and Maths Quiz with Opoku Ware School in Kumasi.

Basic Challenges Facing Students pertaining to E-Learning and UG Mails-Mr.Vincent Larrey(CJ)

Mr.Larrey Vincent

A level 200 student, Vincent Larrey, popularly known as chief Justice(CJ), reading courses in education and psychology applauds and sends his goodwill message to the university of Ghana Management for rolling out the E-learning modules, during this convid-19 pandemic.

Even though there have been significant challenges in persuant to rollout the modules, it is still the next best option after classrom lectures. E-learning, is the only available working alternative, internationally recognized today for lecturers to reach out to their students to enable them continue their learning process which was interrupted by the covid-19 spread. As the saying stipulates, “It is only in our darkest hours that we may discover the true strength of the brilliant light within ourselves that can never, ever, be dimmed.” To our hardworking educationists, I say, “Ayekoo!

Notwithstading the good benefits, however, there are still pertinent challenges which needs solution.

First, amongst some identified challenges is the vodafone data package which majority of the students have shown their discontent due to the delay in receiving it, and also the meagre amount being allocated to them. Explaining this point, the students are meant to receive and use up to five gigabyte data allocation every month to access all platforms including the zoom app – a data consuming force in smart phones. The active role of this app in the speedily loss of the allocated data cannot be underestimated,in that, it is defeating the academic endeavors which was once envisaged by our school authorities.

On the backdrop of this challenge, I urge the SRC to enhance the process by fast tracking the available options to add more data, or possibly ,provide unlimited bundles for students.

Another disadvantage students are facing in this crucial moment is their inability to access their ug mails, and other related E-learning platforms, which they however believe the UGCS could attend to their needs asap. Howbeit, this functional unit seems to be reluctant per the service assistance churning out to students when you reached out to their help desk for assistance.
Conclusively, students have pressing challenges such as adding and deleting courses on Sakai, email issues, etc. but have to wait for days if not weeks and other times without any response from the help desk officials. I therefore urge the administrative body of UGCS to constantly review the officials of the help desk to ensure immediate responses to students plight.

This academic semester, amidst the covid-19 is tough and alien to students, but I trust we will be able to act in good faith to ease some of the avoidable burdens of students.

Lawless driver stabs passenger to death and harms 2 others

A commercial vehicle driver, Appau Atto, 30, is in the grips of the police at Akwadum, in the Eastern Region, for allegedly stabbing three passengers, resulting in the death of one last Sunday.

The deceased, who was rushed to the Saint Joseph’s Hospital at Koforidua for treatment, was pronounced dead on arrival.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the hospital mortuary, whilst the others are responding to treatment.According to eyewitnesses, who spoke to the Ghanaian Times, the driver who was in charge of Hyundai H100 mini bus with registration number ER 1623-13, defied the presidential directive on the number of passengers to be taken by commercial vehicles, which triggered a heated argument between the deceased and the other two victims, and the driver. They said the furious driver, during the argument, dropped all the passengers on board the vehicle in the middle of the journey, as punishment for complaining against the illegal number of passengers he was carrying. Not satisfied with that, he insisted that all the passengers pay the full fare, despite leaving them stranded. But, according to the eyewitnesses, the passengers argued that, dropping them in the middle of the journey meant no service rendered, therefore, they would not pay the fare, unless the driver took them to their destination.

The eyewitnesses said the driver became more infuriated, and with extreme anger, went into the vehicle, took a knife, and stabbed the deceased, leading to his death.

The two others, who tried to prevent the driver from carrying out the grievous crime, were not spared, as they were also stabbed. The three were rushed to the St Joseph’s Hospital where the deceased was pronounced dead on arrival.Meanwhile, the other passengers managed to overpower the culprit and took him to the Akwadum Police Station, where he was detained. When contacted, the Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ebenezer Tetteh, confirmed the incident, but explained that he was yet to be given detailed briefing on the case.

WHEN YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS ARE POOR, YOUR PROPAGANDA WILL EXPOSE YOU: A reply to MR. Collins Adu Abban on the Dawurampong polyclinic establishment.

The Dawurapong Polyclinic

The word “perfection” is an attribute monopolized by GOD the creator since no human being born on this Earth has completely achieved that. Nevertheless, perfection is one of the things we strive to diverge our actions towards at the end of the day. Why am I saying this? I was going through some posts Facebook yesterday when I saw a post on Facebook by Mr. Collins Edu Abban, a staunched member of the NPP, which seeks to slam the NDC whiles praising the NPP on who established the Gomoa Dawurampong polyclinic in the Gomoa West District.

There is this norm of sequentially putting droplets of both water and alcohol on the tongue of newly born babies during their naming ceremonies with the intention of instilling truth into the child. I do not know whether Mr. Collins Edu Abban experience this norm or not. And if he actually did experience this norm, then I will not hesitate to say that those who performed and those who witnessed it that day will regret to see how Mr. Edu Abban has grown to live contrary to the purpose to which the norm was performed. Why do I say this? This is because Mr. Edu claimed in his post that ” NPP government inherited a polyclinic at its foundation stage…”. This claim by Mr. Edu Abban has the efficacy ofbeen the worst lie in the history. Even if Mr. Edu Abban would tell lies,at Least he could have blended it with a spice of fact to make the claim palatable and alsogive room for readers to accept it a little.
I am a citizen of the District in question and I confirm with all my energy that the NDC government raised the building for the polyclinic to the point of roofing until the party was constitutionally overthrown from office in 2016. To set myself aside from the dungeon of unsupportable fabrications, I advise any interested party to find the factual truth of my claims by visiting the community and soliciting from the people themselves. What Honourable Lawyer Kojo Abban did was painting, feeding the facility with equipments and commissioning it for use in August 2018.
The NDC government expanded the health facilities in the District and included among these facilities are the Dawurampong polyclinic, health centres and several CHPS compounds built across the District. I will applaud Honourable Lawyer Kojo Abban for seeing to the full completion of that project started by the NDC government. However, I want to remind him that there are similar buildings like the Dawurampong polyclinic built by the NDC in the communities of Gomoa Eshiem and Gomoa Antseadze, that have currently been left to rot in the bushes. Please come and open it for us to use them, we also deserve better health facilities.I do not know whether Mr. Collins Edu Abban was daydreaming when when wrote that because he went on to say that Prez. Mahama Photoshopped polyclinic in the NDC green book. I believe Mr. Collins Edu Abban is living in different Ghana on the planet Mars not our Ghana on this Earth. He claims he has never seen how coronavirus has proven the existence of the projects in the NDC green books and at the same time betrayed the Incompetent, illogical policies and misplaced priorities on the party of his NPP governmentOn the achievements of the NDC in the Gomoa West District, I can’t mention all but I want Mr. Edu Abban to know that health facilities, road construction, quantity and quality education, agricultural development and many more only grow and expand under the beautiful eyes and safest hands of the incomparable and priceless leadership of the NDC governments. In conclusion, a person who forces or attempt to propagate falsehood in the midst of undibutable truth like what Mr. Collins Edu Abban is doing, can only be described by the letter “W”; that is either you are “WICKED” or “WITCH”.#STAY

Pastor, 2 church workers jailed 4 years each for flouting ban on public gathering

Jailed CovidApostle Sampson Agakpe, his assistant and church worker

A pastor and two church workers have been sent to the Ho Central Prison to serve a four-year jail term each for flouting the ban on social gathering.

Apostle Sampson Agakpe who is the founder of the Church of Pure Christ in the Volta Region, was arrested on April 12 together with his assistant pastor, Maxwell Dzogoedzikpe and church secretary, Samuel Agakpe.

The pastor was said to have held church service at Tongor-Abui in the South Dayi district last Sunday for more than 50 people in clear breach of the ban on religious gathering contrary to Regulation 1 sub-section 1 of EI 65 and section 6 of Act 1012.

Members of the church however managed to escape, the police said in court

The three arrested pleaded guilty to the charges of failing to comply with the ban and put before the Kpando Circuit Court, and accordingly fined 13,200 cedis each or in default serve four-year jail term each.

As at Thursday, April 16, they had failed to pay the fine totaling 39,600 cedis, forcing authorities to send them to the Ho Central Prion to serve the four year jail term.

Prosecution told the court that on April 12, the police had information that Apostle Agakpe, was having a church service at the church premises at Tongor-Abui in the South Dayi district assembly.

The police proceeded to the scene and met the apostle preaching to a congregation of over 50 “in flagrant disregard of the president of the republic of Ghana’s imposed restrictions on public gathering including religious activities in churches”, the court heard.

According to the prosecution, the police took photographs and arrested the apostle and two of his church elders, “…whilst other congregants took to their heels and escaped arrest”.
